Laureato in Semiotica al Dams di Bologna (1981). Professore associato al Dipartimento di Design e Docente di Semiotica del progetto alla Scuola del Design del Politecnico di Milano (SSD M-Fil/05 [11/D4]). Socio dell’Associazione Italiana Studi Semiotici (AISS) e della Società di Filosofia del Linguaggio (SFL).

Dopo la laurea al Dams di Bologna nel 1981 con una tesi sui sistemi di scrittura (relatore Umberto Eco), ho insegnato Storia dell’arte alla Volkshochchule di Francoforte e condotto una ricerca sulla didattica della lingua italiana presso la Fachhochschule di Wiesbaden. Dal 1988 al 2000 ho insegnato Storia del pensiero scientifico all’Istituto Statale d’Arte di Monza, e tenuto corsi e seminari di semiotica anche in altre scuole. Al Politecnico di Milano sono stato collaboratore prima di Giovanni Anceschi e poi di Massimo Bonfantini. Insegno Semiotica dal 2002. Attività editoriali: sono stato direttore editoriale della rivista “Ergonomia” e curatore delle collane Quaderni di Ergonomia (Moretti&Vitali) e Interpretazioni (Moretti Honegger). Ora curo insieme a Massimo Bonfantini la collana del Club Psòmega (ATì Editore) e sono redattore della rivista on line “Ocula“. Sono responsabile scientifico del laboratorio di ricerca HumanitiesDesign del Dipartimento di Design.

1996-2000: collaboratore di Massimo Bonfantini alla Facoltà di Architettura, poi Facoltà del Design, del Politecnico di Milano.
2000-2006: Docente incaricato di Semiotica alla Facoltà del Design del Politecnico di Milano.
dal 2006: Ricercatore al Dipartimento di Design (ex “Indaco”) e docente di Semiotica alla Scuola del Design del Politecnico di Milano.

Graduated in Semiotics at the DAMS of Bologna in 1981. Associate professor in the Department of Design and Semiotics professor within the School of Design at the Polytechnic University of Milan (SSD M-Fil / 05 [11 / D4]).

Member of the Association of Semiotic Studies (AISS) and of Italian Society Philosophy of Language (SIFL).

After graduating from Bologna’s DAMS program in 1981 with a thesis on writing systems (with Umberto Eco as advisor), I taught Art History at the Volkshochchule in Frankfurt and conducted research on Italian language teaching at the Fachhochschule in Wiesbaden.

From 1988 to 2000 I taught History of Scientific Thought at the Art Institute of Monza, and I also held courses and seminars in other schools.

At the Polytechnic University of Milan I was a collaborator with Giovanni Anceschi and then with Massimo Bonfantini. I have been a professor of Semiotics since 2002.

Editorial Activities: I have been directing editor of the magazine “Ergonomia” and editor of the series Journals of Ergonomics (Moretti & Vitali) and Interpretations (Moretti Honegger). I am currently the editor of the online magazine “Ocula” and, together with Massimo Bonfantini, I also edit the series Club Psòmega (ATì Editore).

I am the scientific director of the research laboratory HumanitiesDesign within the Department of Design.
